Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born 26 March 1991 also known professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. On the 21st October of 2016 Pho was released by her the debut EP on the label Dreamville Records. This was when she began to gain recognition. The album that she released as her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 when she dropped her first mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014 she continued to make music available on the web including her self release single Bound. Her music was also featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes, on Sweat It Out on July 21, 2015. J. Cole, who was a part of the Dreamville crew at the time would like to see her perform on Rihanna in reference to Rihanna. On the 8th of December, it was announced that she was contracted to Dreamville Records. The Album Revenge of the Dreamers II She was on the track Backseat with Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, she released her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer on behalf of J. Cole on his single Change in 2017, and performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she was able to perform as a guest artist on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang with Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018. The music video then released in September. The 9th of November saw her release two additional singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On November 13, she released two additional singles, titled No One as well as Pdigree. She performed with Cole on The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16, then released the song on her own single to accompany the album she released her debut. The song was followed by the release of a music video on February 20 2019 and it surpassed 3 million views on YouTube within its first seven days. She was the supporting act for 6LACK as part of their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
